just wondering if anyone has this phone or has any first hand experience with it? I'm considering getting it to replace my current Panasonic phone. Basically, it's a two handset model, the handsets are apparently ruggedized, drop and splash resistant. I don't care so much about their durability, although that would be a nice bonus. One of the main features I want though are handsets with some beef to them, so I'm thinking the ruggedized model may be somewhat bigger than other units in this series. I like tiny cell phones but in terms of my home phone, I want something that's comfortable in the hand, and can be cradled against a shoulder if need be.
Aside from the durable handsets, the phone seems pretty cool in other ways. It sports the typical Panasonic talking caller ID, but apparently, also features a talking alarm clock and talking low battery indicator. For the curious, I've posted the manufacturers description below. If anyone has any further info, comments on this phone, or suggestions as to other models, your feedback would be great. Description of phone follows:
Style Meets Toughness
Who hasn't tried to physically juggle so many items at once that one of them always gets dropped? And how many times has one of those items been your cordless phone? Don't worry, though, our Drop & Splash Resistant phones are tough enough to have passed the US Army's Mechanical/Transit Drop Test, meaning that they qualified to survive in the field! Plus, they passed both the UL Standard- and Outdoor-use water-safety tests, too!

Long Range, Excellent Clarity and Greater Security
DECT 60 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound It also assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls Operating in the 19GHz frequency range, your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common household devices

Night Mode Lets You Choose Where the Phone Rings
Now you can program each handset to ring — or not — at your discretion Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to Night Mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom In the meantime, the handset in the den will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping

The Phone That Talks
Now you don't have to be holding the phone to see who's calling Using text-to-speech technology, the Caller ID information is announced between rings Panasonic's KX-TG9300 series DECT phones also boast a talking alarm clock that will tell you when it's time for lunch, and a talking battery alert that politely tells you when your battery is low with a please charge phone reminder

Block Unwanted Calls
Store the Caller ID info of any and all unwanted callers into your phone's Call Block list so that you can eliminate future pesky calls After the information is stored, those unwanted callers will receive a busy signal when they call you again

Put a Handset in Every Room
With two handsets (one base and one charger) and the option of adding up to four additional handsets — all while using only one base and one phone jack — go ahead and put one in the den, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the living room so you won't have to make a run for it when the phone rings

Amazon.com has it. I think list price is $99.95, but they sell it for $87.00 or something like that. Other places have it as well. I'm still shopping around, hoping to find a thanksgiving or psyber monday type sale.

I love the idea of the call blocker.

Other than stating it is tough and won't break if dropped, I wish it would talk more about the shape of the hand set. Cordless phones are just not designed to fit between the shoulder and the ear like regular phone receivers, and I really miss that feature.
